HISTORY The Annie W. Johnson Senior Services Center, Inc.
agency was started in 1976 by the late Annie Johnson. The current center,
just south of the Withlacoochee River, was previously a Baptist Church
built over a 100 years ago. The This-N-That Shop, on Rt. 41, started in 1986. The store accepts donations of clothing, toys, and kitchen appliances and sells same at very modest prices, with income going toward operational expenses for the Center and store. The Center has been a Citrus County Congregate Meal site since 1981, feeding local residents both able and shut-ins (Homebound Meals) five days per week. Local volunteers account for 99% of the necessary manpower. Part time staff of two, rounds out our team. Another service that we provide is financial assistance to the needy in both Citrus and Marion counties. Funding is received from United Way of Citrus and Marion counties, EFSP, FPC Neighborhood Fund, Seco’s Angel Fund, local organizations as well as private individuals. 2002 ACCOMPLISHMENTS Assisted in paying 332 Utility Bills Assisted with 93 Rental or Mortgage Payments Presented 375 Food Baskets throughout the year Distributed to over 305 adults and children Christmas Baskets, totaling over 7 tons with turkeys, canned goods, produce, and beauty aids to the needy in the Dunnellon area. Served approximately 5349 congregate meals at the Center Delivered approximately 6504 meals to those homebound 6,750 local people used the Center during 2002 The Center and the store touched the lives of over 25,000 last year! There is no cost for this service, but donations are gladly accepted.)
